Thoughts of a Millennial Mom
Every mikkle mek a muckle...some day..I hope...
So much laundry, so little time...
I think it’s time I transition my family to become minimalists.
Why I have 20 loads of laundry to wash when we have had nowhere to be dressed for in almost 2 years is beyond me.
The build up to wash day starts with me ignoring the random droppings of socks/underwear/pants/shirts, to me eyeing my hamper with clothes draped over the sides, to me punting anything made to cover a body towards the now overflowing hamper, until the punt pile accumulates on the floor in front of the hamper that is a balancing act of discarded threads. By then, anything that fits goes into the washing machine, sorted or barely sorted, is a go.
What gets me, though is how are there STILL clothes filling the closets and drawers? “A”, though he’s great at supporting my no laundry initiative; he just wants to wear whatever outfit he liked wearing from the day before— every day. No amount of Polynesian sauce, ketchup, chocolate, oat milk, or unidentifiable smear can deter him from living his best life in freshly pre-worn, off season attire.
He gets his mommy.
Until I can get the other 4 on board, I need a new Nollywood flick to get into while I fold 3 baskets of clothes and 5 baskets of socks without mates.
