Thoughts of a Millennial Mom
The look on my face when I've successfully skirted my chores.
A new Game
Talking to my therapist about taking less stress on myself and getting more time in with the kids, I decided, (more like after one of “D’s” many questions/remarks about life as it pertains to my shortcomings as a homemaker), to make good use of the kids’ energy.
We were going to play a game. Not just any game, but a game even the Tween could get into. Mommy made a new game, a game so captivating, even the Hubby was beside himself with excitement. This game would not only bring the family together, it would score me major cool points for making it up on the spot. A game for all ages, “bigger and short.”
It was the sock game. And it will be a family favorite for generations to come.
I didn’t have to bribe or threaten anyone. In fact, the only elevated voices were those of my kids yelling happily when they found a mate in the sea of lost socks I had been storing under piles of clean laundry the duration of my pregnancy. I won’t take all the credit, my husband had a hand in it. He’s the one who told me he would knock out the laundry during my third trimester. Thanks babe.
What was taking me almost a year to accomplish, my sleep resisting 3 musketeers got done in just 2 hours, and went to bed all winners.
I think we know who the real winner was that night.
The one who got out of folding a year’s worth of unmated socks.
If you didn’t guess, she’s writing this blog and just gave you get out of jail free card.
You’re welcome.
